Urban Climb & ABC Programs Payment Structure Explained
Until now, families paid one all-inclusive term fee to ABC. From Term 3 2025 onwards, fees will be split into two parts to allow more flexibility to participants. This new structure has been developed jointly by ABC and Urban Climb to give families greater flexibility. As part of this collaboration, we’ve created a special ABC Youth Membership, available exclusively to athletes enrolled in our programs.
NEW PAYMENT STRUCTURE
1. ABC Coaching Fee – paid directly to ABC
This covers your child’s coaching only.
2. Urban Climb Youth Membership – paid directly to Urban Climb
This covers climbing gym access:
$15/week for under 13s
$21/week for under 18s
This no-lock-in membership includes:
Unlimited climbing access (not just during class)*
Full Urban Climb member benefits (shoe rental, pro shop discounts, guest passes, etc.)
Weekly direct debit payments instead of a large upfront cost

What age can children start climbing at Urban Climb?
Urban Climb Adelaide currently welcomes climbers aged 13 and over from the general public.
Climbers aged 5–12 are also welcome, provided they are part of the ABC Youth Program.
Can my child climb outside of ABC classes?
Yes, if they have an active Urban Climb membership (Age restrictions apply).
Climbers aged 13 and over are free to use the gym outside of class at any time.
For younger athletes (ages 8–12), access outside of class requires a BoulderPass, which allows climbing with adult supervision. This pass is only available to ABC participants who have demonstrated the necessary safety and maturity. ABC coaches will assess readiness during sessions and guide you through the BoulderPass process when appropriate.
Climbers under 8 are currently not eligible to use the gym outside of supervised ABC sessions. We are working on options to expand access in future terms. Stay tuned!
How does my child get a BoulderPass?
The BoulderPass is available only to ABC participants between the ages of 8 and 12 who demonstrate the required safety awareness and maturity. Readiness is assessed by ABC coaches during regular sessions.
Coaches regularly update the list of athletes who are ready to apply, and this list is available at the Urban Climb front desk.
If your child’s name appears on the list, you’re welcome to speak directly with Urban Climb staff, who can assist with the next steps. You can also check in with our coaching team if you believe your child may be ready. We’re happy to help expedite the process where appropriate.
To receive BoulderPass certification, both the athlete and their supervising adult(s) must complete a short safety demonstration with Urban Climb staff.
Do I have to apply for a BoulderPass each term?
No. Once an athlete has completed the safety demonstration and received their BoulderPass certification, it remains valid for the duration of their time in the ABC Youth Program. There’s no need to reapply each term. However, continued access is subject to maintaining safe and responsible behaviour in the gym.
Any tips for parking?
Yes. There is metered street parking available nearby, as well as paid parking in the surrounding area (including Wilson and UPark car parks). We recommend allowing extra time for your first visit, especially during peak hours.
